Ewing, NJ...The College of New Jersey women's tennis team capped the regular season with a solid 6-3 win over Washington College as the Lions netted a 6-3 win on Tuesday.
The win put TCNJ at 14-2 on the year as they now await the selection of the field for the 2011 NCAA Division III Championships, which will be made in early May. The loss knocked the Shorewomen to 15-3.
TCNJ excelled in singles winning four of the six available points with
Felice Trinh (Linden, NJ/Linden) winning the most exciting match of the day outlasting her opponent at second singles 7-5, 6-7 (7-4), 7-5.
Trinh also paired up with
Emily Petersack (Mercerville, NJ/Notre Dame) at third doubles for an 8-2 victory.
Petersack was a double winner, taking a 6-1, 7-5 decision at fifth singles, while
Lauren Balsamo (Wall Twp., NJ/Wall) also won twice. She won at second doubles with
Paige Aiello (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) and then at fourth singles.
