Williamstown, MA …The College of New Jersey women's tennis team bowed out of the 2011 NCAA Division II Tournament as the Lions fell to Bowdoin College 5-0 on Saturday in regional play hosted by Williams College.

The Lion finished another successful campaign with a record 15-3 and in the fall portion of the season were crowned as the New Jersey Athletic Conference Champions for the 28th straight season.

The Polar Bears started off by sweeping all three doubles matches. The duo of Kellen Alberstone and Kate Winingham took over at first doubles, winning 8-3, and their teammates in the second spot, Emily Lombardi and Emma Lewis, matched with another 8-3 win.

TCNJ's third pairing of Emily Petersack (Mercerville, NJ/Notre Dame) and Felice Trinh (Linden, NJ/Linder) put on a late charge, winning two games down 7-3 to tighten the match, but Bowdoin's Hannah Hoerner and Chantale Lavertu closed out the final game to win 8-5.

In singles, Bowdoin won 6-2, 6-1 win over Karisse Bendijo (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) in the first position, while the clinching point came a short while later just one court away, as Lombardi took her match 6-1, 6-2.

Bowdoin advances to play the winner of the Williams vs. Wheaton match, which was starting immediately after the finish of their match.
