Ewing, NJ ...The College of New Jersey women's tennis team won all three points in doubles as the Lions went on to post a 7-2 win over Swarthmore College on Saturday.
The win put the Lions at 11-1 this season with the lone setback coming against a NCAA Division I program.
The loss put the Garnet at 3-2.
The Lions took control of the dual meet during doubles as they secured all three team points. The first pairing of
Karisse Bendijo (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) and
Allison Tierney (Berkeley Heights, NJ/Governor Livingston) outlasted their opponents winning 9-8, taking the tiebreaker 7-5.
The second team of
Felice Trinh (Linden, NJ/Linden) and
Emily Petersack (Mercerville, NJ/Notre Dame) collected an 8-4 win, while
Paige Aiello (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) and
Lauren Balsamo (Wall Twp., NJ/Wall) finished off the sweep in doubles with an 8-3 triumph.
Bendijo added another long win at first singles as she won 64-, 4-6, 6-1 and Trinh followed with a steady 6-4, 6-2 in the second spot.
TCNJ earned its final two points at fifth and sixth singles as
Deborah Wu (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) garnered a 6-4, 6-1 win in the fifth spot and Petersack came away with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph in the sixth position.
