Swarthmore, PA…The College of New Jersey women's tennis team had its run of 12 straight wins to start the season come to an end as the Lions fell 5-4 at Swarthmore College on Sunday.
The loss dropped the Lions to 12-1, while the Garnet improved to 7-2.
Things started well for the Lions as they took all three points in doubles play, but Swarthmore regrouped to win five of the six available points in singles to pull out the narrow win.
Senior
Karisse Bendijo (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) and
Allison Tierney (Berkeley Heights, NJ/Governor Livingston) won at first doubles as the duo won for the 66
th time during their careers as a pairing. In addition, Bendijo is the program's all-time leader in doubles wins with 85.
The Lions have a quiet week with their next match on Sunday, April 14 at Skidmore College.
