TCNJ doubles up Kean, 2-1

 
Union, NJ... The College of New Jersey field hockey team remained undefeated against conference opponents this fall as the Lions fought their way to a 2-1 road win at Kean University on Tuesday.
 
The win earned TCNJ a half-game lead in the New Jersey Athletic Conference standings with a perfect 4-0 record, while second-place Rowan is at 3-0. Overall, the fourth-ranked Lions are 13-1. The loss knocked the Cougars to 9-6 and 1-3 in conference play.
 
All of the scoring in the first came in a span of 4:08 with the Lions sandwiching a pair of goals around one by the Cougars. Sophomore Jaclyn Douglas (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) lifting in a shot that came on an insert from senior Lindsey Hatch (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) on a penalty corner. That score came 10:19 into the contest. That assist was the 19th of the season for Hatch, which ties her for the program record for assists in a season.
 
Kean got that goal back 59 seconds later, but Douglas responded for TCNJ cashing in on a Cougar turnover for her second tally of the game.
 
The teams then battled through a scoreless second half keeping the score at 2-1.
 
In goal for the Lions, Kelly Schlupp (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) tied a season high with four saves, including a diving stop early in the second period.
 
The two-goal performance by Douglas was her fifth multiple-goal effort of the season and raised her season total to 17.
 
TCNJ faces a tough non-conference test on Thursday, October 16 when fifth-ranked Ursinus College visits Lions Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
