Ewing, NJ…Inside or out, The College of New Jersey women's tennis team enjoys playing at home. Rain forced the Lions into the Student Recreation Center on Sunday and the team responded with convincing 8-1 win over the University of Rochester.
 
TCNJ is a perfect 6-0 at home this season with four wins coming outside and two so far this spring indoors. Overall, the team is 8-3. The loss dropped the Yellowjackets to 3-6.
 
The Lions got off to the fast sweeping all three available points in doubles action. The first team of sophomore Jasmine Muniz-Cadorette (Union, NJ/Union) and classmate Emma Allen (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and the second pair of freshman Katie Buchbinder (Scotch Plains, NJ/Wardlaw-Hartridge) and senior Tara Criscuolo (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) each won by identical 8-5 scores. The third tandem of junior Sarah Lippincott (Millville, NJ/Millville) and freshman Anna Prestera (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat) posted an 8-4 victory.
 
In singles, the Lions won the first two matches going three sets. Muniz-Cadorette won 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), and 10-1, while Buchbinder came out on top with a 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 10-5 in the second slot.
 
Criscuolo had what turned out to be the clinching match at third singles, while Allen posted a win at the fourth spot and Lippincott in the sixth.
 
The Lions don't play again until Saturday, April 5 when they host Stevens Institute of Technology at noon.
