Ewing, NJ... Senior
Erin Healy (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) joined the 100-point club as The College of New Jersey field hockey team rolled to an 8-1 win over Manhattanville College on Tuesday.
Â
In addition to Healy's milestone, classmate
Lindsey Hatch (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) had a monster game with four goals and three assists as TCNJ has now scored 15 goals in its first two games of the season.
Â
The win put the 11
th-ranked Lions at 2-0, while the Valiants fell to 0-3.
Â
Healy opened the scoring 3:25 into the contest knocking in her second goal of the season with an assist from Hatch. That goal gave her 101 career points as she became the 17
th player in program history to eclipse that milestone.
Â
That goal stood until there was 17:48 left in the half when the Valiants were awarded a penalty stroke and took advantage when
Morgan Parsons (Bear, DE/William Penn) tied the game.
Â
Hatch helped the Lions go into the half with the lead scoring a pair of goals in the final 10:24 of the period. The first of those came on an assist from sophomore
Jaclyn Douglas (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) and the second from
Erin Waller (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.).
Â
TCNJ added to that lead early in the second half with two more goals in the opening 3:28. Douglas netted the first of those for her fourth of the year, while sophomore
Lexi Smith (Florence, NJ/Florence Twp.) made it 5-1 cashing in on a penalty stroke.
Â
The hosts tacked on a sixth goal with 27:58 left in the half with Healy getting her second of the game. That raised her career totals to 42 goals and 19 assists for 103 points.
Â
The weather then slowed the Lions seconds later as the game was delayed nearly two hours due to lightning, but Hatch collected to more goals out of the stoppage to complete the scoring.
Â
Manhattanville goalie
Meghan Hughes (Kintersville, PA/Palisades) was busy all night as she made a season-high 25 saves.
Â
Â
Lion sophomore
Kelly Schlupp (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) had one save to earn the win, while teammate
Amanda Krause (Richboro, PA/Council Rock North) also had a save in the game.
