Amherst, MA... The College of New Jersey women's tennis team claimed the first five points for a 5-0 win over Wilkes University in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday.
 
The Lions (15-1) advance to face Johns Hopkins University (17-4) on Saturday at 1 p.m. The first three rounds of this portion of the bracket are being hosted by Amherst College. That win pushed the team's winning streak to six straight.
 
The Colonels capped their season at 18-2.
 
The Lions garnered all three points in doubles to jump out to the early lead. The top pairing of juniors Jasmine Muniz-Cadorette (Union, NJ/Union) and Emma Allen (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) won 8-6, while the second unit of freshmen Maddy Stoner (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) and Brittany Reedman (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) posted an 8-5 triumph. The third pairing of sophomore Anna Prestera (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat) and freshman Danna Tsay (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) remained on a role since being put together as they collected an 8-2 win. They are a perfect 5-0 at third doubles.
 
TCNJ picked up the final two needed points to secure the win, in NCAA actions the matches last until a team earns a fifth point, as Allen cruised 6-0, 6-1 in the third position and Stoner won 6-0, 6-2 in the fourth position. Allen extended her modest win streak in singles play to four, while is one ahead of her at five consecutive victories.
