Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey women's tennis team opened its spring season with flare as they knocked off 27th-ranked Division II program Chestnut Hill, 6-3 on Friday afternoon.

The victory raises the Lions' season record to 7-0, while the Griffins dropped to 11-5.

Senior
Emma Allen (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) clinched the team victory at second singles with the Lions' fifth win of the match. She defeated Lara Scholtze 6-4, 6-3.

TCNJ dominated the singles matches, notching five wins out of six. Three freshmen played like veterans as
Sneha Rangu (East Windsor, NJ/Mercer County Health Science), Grace Minassian (Closter, NJ/Northern Valley Demarest), and
Emily Szkudlarski (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) all captured wins. Junior
Anna Prestera (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat) also posted a 7-6 (5-3), 6-2 triumph.

Alyssa Baldi (Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah) to claim an 8-1 victory in doubles.

The Lions will have the night to celebrate before returning to TCNJ Tennis Complex tomorrow. They host Brandeis University at 1 p.m.
