Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey women's swimming and diving team won their opening dual meet of the 2017 season defeating Division II Southern Connecticut State University 162-126 Friday night.

The team finished strong, winning the last two individual events and the final relay to secure the victory. Senior Jillian Galindo (Millstone Township, NJ/Allentown) had a strong meet, winning the 200-backstroke in 2:16.17 and the 200-IM in 2:19.23. Galindo also finished second to freshman teammate
Katie Doyle (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill) in the 100-backstroke. Doyle stopped the clock in 1:04.01 and was also a member of the all-freshman winning 200-Medley Relay Team.

Also on the winning relay team with Doyle was classmate
Chiara Mennonna (Ceader Knolls, NJ/Whippany). She also won the 100-breaststroke in 1:10.68. A third member of the squad, Eilise Fraser (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes) went on to win the 50-freestyle in 25.09. The final member of the relay team,
Jamie Bowne (Marlton, NJ/Marlton) would take the 100-butterfly in 1:00.77.

Hannah Raymond (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township) won the 1-meter with a score of 306.15.

The Lions return to the pool Friday, October 27 at Montclair State University for the beginning of New Jersey Athletic Conference action.
