Ewing, NJ ... The College of New Jersey women's tennis team opened its spring slate of matches with a 7-2 victory over Division II Chestnut Hill College on Wednesday afternoon in the Student Recreation Center.

The Lions (7-1) looked sharp in their first competitive meeting since the ITA regional and national tournaments. Senior Katie Buchbinder (Scotch Plains, NJ/WardlawHartridge) was impressive in her return to the courts winning at third singles in straight sets (6-0, 6-1). Classmate Anna Prestera (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat) and sophomore Alyssa Baldi (Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah) both captured a pair of wins in the match. Prestera teamed up with Baldi in second doubles to win 8-1. She posted a 6-0, 6-1 straight set victory at fourth singles, while Baldi blanked opponent Molly Loomis, 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles.

Junior Brittany Reedman (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and sophomore Mackenzie Holleran (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highland) also registered wins at second and sixth singles. Sophomore Sneha Rangu (East Windsor, NJ/Mercer County Health Academy) and Audrey Chen (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-North) paired up to win 8-0 at third singles.

TCNJ returns to action on Saturday when they take on the University of Rochester on Saturday at 10 a.m. The match will be played at either Mercer County Park (outdoor) or Pennsbury High School (indoor) depending on the weather.
