Fredericksburg, Va. ... The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team posted a 9-0 victory over The College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon.
The 17th-ranked Eagles displayed their strength on their home court, sweeping all nine matches against a talented Lions squad. UMW improved to 12-3 on the season, while #39 TCNJ dropped to 9-2.
Junior
Brittany Reedman (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) forced her opponent Taylor Diffney to three sets, but fell 10-5 in the third set tie-breaker. Reedman captured the opening set at second singles, 6-4 and fell just shy in the second set, falling 7-5. Senior
Katie Buchbinder (Scotch-Plains, NJ/Wardlaw-Hartridge) was locked up with Caroline Mosberg 6-6 in her opening set at third singles. But Mosberg claimed a 7-4 decision in the tie-breaker before closing the match in the second set.
TCNJ returns to the courts next Saturday when they host Ithaca College on campus.
