Ewing, NJ ... The College of New Jersey women's tennis team closed out its regular season with a 9-0 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute on Sunday afternoon in the TCNJ Tennis Complex.

The Lions raised their 2016-17 record to 14-3 and will now prepare for the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis National Championship Tournament. The opening three rounds will be played from May 12th through May 14th at a site to be determined after selections on May 8th. The championship finals will be held in Salem, Va. from May 22 - 27.

Maddy Stoner (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) and Danna Tsay (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) came through in a tightly contested match at first doubles. After the being tied at seven games apiece, Stoner and Tsay rallied to win the tie-breaker, 7-2.

Senior Anna Prestera (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat) and Katie Buchbinder (Scotch Plains, NJ/Hartridge-Wardlaw) were both triumphant in their 'official' final matches at TCNJ. Prestera registered a 6-0, 6-2 victory, while Buchbinder downed her opponent 6-2, 6-3. Prestera also posted a win at second doubles, joining Alyssa Baldi (Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah) for an 8-5 decision.

Brittany Reedman completed her regular season with an impressive 6-1, 6-0 win and improved to 15-4 overall. Mackenzie Holleran (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highland) also had a strong regular season and capped it with a 6-4, 6-1 win to raise her record to 8-2. Sneha Rangu (East Windsor, NJ/Mercer County Health Science Academy) raised her season mark to 14-4 at first singles. She joined Audrey Chen (West Winsor, NJ/West Windsor North) at third doubles to net a convincing 8-2 victory.
