West Windsor, NJ ... The College of New Jersey women's tennis team cruised to a 7-2 victory over Ithaca College on Saturday at Mercer County Park.
The Lions (10-2) won two of three doubles matched to open and then closed the match with five of six victories in singles competition.
Mackenzie Holleran (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highland) registered the clinching match with a straight set, 6-4, 6-2 triumph.
Top singles player
Sneha Rangu (East Windsor, NJ/Mercer County Health Science Academy) won both of her matches. She posted a 6-2, 6-3 win in singles and joined
Audrey Chen (West Windsor, NJ/West Winsor North) to post an 8-2 victory in doubles play.
Senior
Anna Prestera (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat) and sophomore
Alyssa Baldi (Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah) also notched a pair of victories. Prestera was a winner at fourth singles, breezing to a 6-2, 6-0 win. Baldi blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles. The two also joined forces to win second doubles with a convincing 8-2 victory. Junior
Brittany Reedman (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) was a straight winner at second singles, netting 6-3 and 6-2 set wins.
The Lions continue their spring schedule at Division I Rider University this Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in Lawrenceville, NJ.
