Medford, MA …. Johns Hopkins University defeated The College of New Jersey, 5-1 in the second round of the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis National Championship Tournament at Voute Courts in Medford, Massachusetts.
 
The #14 Blue Jays swept the doubles competition to build a 3-0 lead. The Lions #32 Lions (15-4) battled back as sophomore Mackenzie Holleran (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands) topped her opponent, 6-0, 6-3 at sixth singles. But JHU had too much firepower as they will now compete against No. 6-ranked Tufts University in the final of the regional event on Sunday at 1 p.m. The winner of the match will earn a spot in the quarterfinals of the national tournament on May 22 at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The loss eliminated TCNJ from post-season contention.
 
The Lions enjoyed yet another outstanding season. Their 15 wins fell just one victory shy of the highest total under Head Coach Scott Dicheck. They also won their 34^th consecutive New Jersey Athletic Conference championship and secured at least one win at the NCAA tournament for the seventh straight season.
 
The match with the Blue Jays also marked the final collegiate appearance for seniors Anna Prestera (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat) and Katie Buchbinder (Scotch Plains, NJ/Wardlaw-Hartridge). The exceptional duo combined to win 195 matches during their tenure with the TCNJ program.
