Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey women's tennis team hosted its annual Lions Kickoff Tournament on Friday and Saturday, competing against New York University, Dickinson College and Division I local foe, Rider University.
 
In singles competition, TCNJ won six of eight matches against NYU on Friday. Sneha Rangu (East Windsor, NJ/Mercer County Science Academy) posted a perfect 6-0, 6-0 sweep, while Brittany Reedman (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) topped her opponent 6-0, 6-3. Junior Alyssa Baldi (Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah) battled her way to a 7-5, 6-4 victory while Emily Szkudlarski (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery), Emily Stoner (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) and Grace Minassian (Closter, NJ/Northern Valley Demarest) each registered straight set wins.
 
Baldi, Reedman and Szkudlarski all went 3-0 on the day. Baldi joined Audrey Chen (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor North) to win a pair of doubles matches against NYU and Dickinson. Mackenzie Holleran (Allendale, NJ/Norther Highland) and Szkudlarski downed their Red Devil and Purple Violet opponents by 8-4 scores and Reedman partnered with Sondra Lionetti (Clarks Summit, NJ/Abington Heights) to post 8-4 and 8-5 victories.
 
Freshman Laura Suarez took the court with Rangu to post an 8-2 win over Dickinson and Danna Tsay (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) and Andrea Giacobbo (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) joined forces to defeat Dickinson 8-2 and a Rider University pair, 8-5. Stoner and Minassian went 2-1, including an 8-1 triumph over the Broncs.
 
The Lions return to action on Monday when they visit Stockton University at 3:45 p.m. in a rescheduled New Jersey Athletic Conference match.
