Saratoga Springs, NY… The College of New Jersey closed out competition at the ITA Division III Regionals presented by Oracle. TCNJ had representatives in the semi-finals of both the singles and doubles brackets, however the Lions were unable to produce a finalist this season.
Sneha Rangu (East Windsor, NJ/East Windsor) defeated her opponent from Vassar College in the third round and teammate
Brittany Reedman (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) earned a win over her opponent from New York University to set up the all-Lions quarterfinal. The pair required the full three sets with Rangu coming out on top 6-0, 2-6, 6-3. Rangu's run came to an end in the semi-finals falling to Coco Kulle of NYU 6-3, 6-4.
The Lions also saw successful runs by
Audrey Chen (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-North) and
Emily Szkudlarski (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) in the consolation bracket. Both players won three times before falling in the semi-finals.
On the doubles courts, the pair of
Grace Minassian (Closter, NJ/Northern Valley Demarest) and
Maddy Stoner (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) won their quarterfinal match in a tiebreaker over a pair from Skidmore College 9-8 (8-6). The duo dropped a tight semi-final match to a pair from NYU 8-6.
The Lions were represented in the doubles consolation bracket as well with
Danna Tsay (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) and
Andrea Giacobbo (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) winning twice before falling in the semi-finals.
TCNJ will now break and prepare for the spring season, during which the team has already secured their spot in the NCAA Tournament.
