Williamsport, PA…The College of New Jersey advanced to the championship bracket of the 30^th annual Budd Whitehill Duals hosted by Lycoming College. The Lions started the day by defeating Ohio-Northern University 23-12, followed up with a 28-13 win over SUNY-Oswego, and ended the round robin portion of the tournament by defeating 18^th-ranked Wesleyan University 23-17. The Lions are now 8-2 on the season, having won eight straight dual meets.
 
Dan Kilroy (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) and Robert Dinger (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) led the way, with each earning three victories and 13 team points. James Goldschmidt (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) also secured three wins, earning 11 team points on the day. Dan Ortega (North Bergen, NJ/North Bergen) won both of his bouts on the day at 125 pounds.
 
The Lions got off to a quick start, opening up their match with Ohio Northern with four straight victories. Goldschmidt earned bonus points at 133 pounds with a dominant 18-0 technical fall.
 
In the second match of the day, TCNJ again jumped out to a large lead getting victories in each of the first two matches before Robert Dinger posted his fifth pin of the season at 141 to give the Lions a 12-0 lead. Bonus point victories by Anthony Gagliano (Howell, NJ/Howell), Kilroy, and Kyle Cocozza (Farmingdale, NJ/Howell) secured the victory.
 
In the Lions final match of the day, Kilroy earned a pin at 174 and Thomas Anderson (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex North) won a 4-3 decision, his second win of the day, at 184 to put the match out of reach.
 
The Lions will open competition tomorrow against Roger Williams University at 10:30 AM.
