Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey women's swimming team swept Kean University earning a 119-64 victory Saturday afternoon. The Lions evened their record at 3-3 on the year, improving to 2-1 in conference meets. The Cougars fell to 0-8 overall and 0-5 in the NJAC.
The Lions got off to quick start as the medley relay team of
Kayla Krisak (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrence),
Kazia Moore (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan),
Hailey Thayer (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert), and
Jamie Bowne (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) crossed the line in 2:01.21.
Melanie Fosko (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick) began the individual events strong with an 11:38.92 time in the 1,000-free.
Annie Menninger (Plainsboro, NJ/West Windsor Plainsboro South) continued the momentum with a 2:02.30 swim in the 200-free.
Moore continued her strong day with a 50-free time of 25.90, followed by
Katie Doyle (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill) winning the 200-IM in 2:22.90.
Jillian Galindo (Millstone Township, NJ/Allentown) took the 100-fly in 1:04.88 with Thayer nabbing the 100-free in 56.67.
Elise Fraser (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes) won the 100-back in 1:06.21 with
Darby VanDeVeen (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) taking the 500-free in 5:41.55. Galindo took her second individual event of the day with a 1:13.69 performance in the 100-breast.
Menninger, Fraser,
Marta Lawler (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East), and
Anna Kisker (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) completed the sweep with a 1:46.08 200-free relay.
The Lions will return to the pool tomorrow for a road dual meet against Stevens Institute of Technology beginning at 1:00 PM.
