Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey women's swimming and diving team dropped a conference meet 220-77 to Rowan University Saturday afternoon. The Lions dropped to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the NJAC. Rowan improves to 8-2 overall and clinched the NJAC regular season championship with a perfect 5-0 record.
The Lions got strong performances from their seven graduating seniors led by
Hannah Raymond (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township) in the diving well. Raymond won the 1-meter with a score of 271.65. Classmate
Robin Lukens (Mantua, NJ/Clearview Regional) posted a score of 112.65 in the event.
Marta Lawler (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) had a busy day in the pool, taking second place in the 200-breast in 2:30.31, fourth in the 200-IM in 2:21.13, and sixth in the 100-Breast with a time of 1:10.26.
Jillian Galindo (Millstone Township, NJ/Allentown) placed third in the 200-IM with a time of 2:18.99, fourth in the 200-Back posting a time of 2:15.12, and scored fifth in the 100-Back in 1:03.74.
Emily Rothstein (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview) swam to a fifth place mark in the 100-free with a time of 57.38 and a seventh place finish in the 50-Free in 26.29.
Cassidy Bergeron (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) raced to a seventh place finish in the 100-Free in 58.78. Bergeron and
Debbie Meskin (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) were both members of the fifth place 200-Medley relay team that came home in 1:58.10.
The Lions will get their final tune up before the MET Conference Championships when they travel to William Paterson University on Saturday, February 3 at 1:00 PM.
