Box Score EWING, N.J. – The College of New Jersey women's tennis team had a good showing in their season opening doubles tournament Saturday afternoon. The Lions won eight of the nine matches they competed in. Other teams competing in the tournament were Ottawa University and St. Thomas Aquinas College.
 
Freshman duo Liya Davidov and Katrine Luddy started their Lions careers with a pair of victories, taking down the top team from Ottawa University 8-3 and the top duo from St. Thomas Aquinas 8-4.
 
2016 ITA All-American Grace Minassian adjusted well to new partner Andrea Giacobbo. The pair defeated the number ones from St. Thomas Aquinas 8-3 before handing the top pair from Ottawa University 8-1.
 
Senior Alyssa Baldi and freshman Navya Yemula earned a pair of victories in their two matches. Freshman sisters Amy Yan and Ally Yan earned their first collegiate victories with an 8-1 win over the number threes from Ottawa University.
 
Audrey Chen and Sarah Phung split their two matches on the day.
 
The Lions return to the courts Wednesday, Sept. 5 when they host a double header. The day kicks off against Division I Delaware State University at 1:00 p.m. before the start of conference play against Stockton University at 4:00 p.m.
