HOBOKEN, N.J. – The College of New Jersey women's swimming and diving team got a strong start to the season, defeating Stevens Institute of Technology 164-97. The Lions are now 1-0 on the season, while the Ducks fall to 1-1.

The Lions won nine of the 14 competed events. TCNJ started the day strong in the 200-Medley Relay. The team of
Rachel Hannah,
Annie Menninger,
Zoe Chan, and
Elise Fraser stopped the clock in 1:52.94.

In the 200-Free,
Cameron Carrazza won the event in 2:02.62. Hannah and
Meagan Healey finished one-two in the 100-Back. The pair finished in 1:02.99 and 1:04.11. Menninger took the 100-breast in 1:10.63.

Chan was the fastest in the pool in the 200-Fly with a time of 2:11.38. Hannah earned her second individual victory in the 100-Free with a time of 55.81. She was followed by
Shannon Hesse in 57.59.

The Lions best swim came in the 200-Back. The team swept the event as Healey touched first in 2:17.86.
Katie Doyle and
Julia Spanfelner completed the sweep in 2:21.02 and 2:22.76. Menninger posted her second invidual victory in the 200-Breast with a time of 2:33.10.

Chan and
Melanie Fosko finished atop the standings in the 200-IM. Chan finished in 2:13.45 and Fosko stopped the clock at 2:22.93.

The Lions return to action next Saturday when they host Ramapo at 2 p.m. to kick off NJAC competition.
