Women's Swimming and Diving Sweeps William Paterson

WAYNE, N.J. –
The College of New Jersey women's swimming and diving team won all 16 events Saturday, defeating William Paterson 186-95. With the win the Lions improved to 6-1 overall, and 4-1 in conference meets. The Pioneers fall to 12-4 overall and 1-4 in conference duals.
 
The Lions got off to a strong start as Tricia Thomas, Melanie Fosko, Samantha Askin, and Anna Kisker won the 200-Medley Relay with a time of 1:54.34.
 
In the 1,650-Free, Faith Cortwright finished over 16 seconds ahead of the field with a time of 18:52.06. Shannon Hesse followed with a 2:04.40 swim to win the 200-Free. In the 100-Back, Thomas went 1:05.76 for the win.
 
Askin won the 100-Breast with a time of 1:15.48. Kori Jelinek topped the 200-Fly field by nearly seven seconds with a winning time of 2:17.99. Kisker won the 50-Free in 26.52.
 
Out of the first break, Hesse claimed her second event victory with a 55.92 swim in the 100-Free. Thomas won her third event of the meet with a 2:20.83 time in the 200-Back.
 
Fosko won the 200-Breast in 2:38.11, over five seconds ahead of the nearest competitor. Nicki Meskin took the 500-Free, stopping the clock at 5:38.97. Kazia Moore closed out the second session with a 1:04.49 win in the 100-Fly.
 
After the final break, Fosko won the 200-IM in 2:26.32. Annie Menninger, Askin, Kisker, and Moore went 1:46.05 to win the 200-Free relay.
 
In the diving well, Hailey Stack won both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter with scores of 232.95 and 234.49 respectively.
 
The Lions are now off until the MET Championships on Feb. 21-23.
