WELLESLEY, Mass. – The 40
th-ranked TCNJ women's tennis team swept doubles play and never looked back on its way to a 6-3 victory over Wellesley on Sunday. The Lions improved to 8-0 with the win, while the Blues fell to 0-1.
Charlotte Roarty and
Jenny Landells claimed an 8-3 win at number two to open the day.
Alexa Vasile and
Anusha Rangu followed with an 8-4 win at number three.
Liya Davidov and
Katrine Luddy completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 victory at number one.
Davidov won at first singles, 6-0, 4-6, 6-0, to give the Lions a 4-0 lead. Roarty clinched the match with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 win at number two. Luddy closed out the Lions scoring with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-0) win at number three.
Wellesley countered with victories at four, five, and six, however the match had already been decided.
TCNJ returns to action Feb. 29 when it hosts Dickinson at 4 p.m.
