10/30/2021 2:54:00 PM

EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ women's swimming team capped a three-meet home stand with another lopsided victory on Saturday, this time a 155-87 NJAC rout of visiting Ramapo.

Jamie Bowne was a double winner for the regionally ranked Lions (3-0, 2-0), who won their third straight dual meet in similarly convincing fashion despite a multitude of swimmes competing in events for the first time in their careers or the first time in multiple years.

Rachel Hannah, Haley Crispell, Kori Jelinek, and Brianna Hatzold opened the proceedings with a victory in the 200 medley relay in 1:56.61.

Shannon Hesse took first place in the 200 free (2:04.08), which was contested entirely by the Lions. Autumn-Brook Tucker (20:06.86) and Allison Lowry (2:07.09) finished within a quarter-second of each other in second and third, respectively.

Bowne cruised to a victory in her season debut in the 100 back, clocking a 1:03.31 to secure first place by about four seconds over teammate Lauren Wolstenholme (1:07.52).

After Bowne's winning swim, Zoe Chan came up just short to Ramapo's Taylor Gray in the 100 breast, where Chan's time of 1:09.73 was just over a half-second behind. In her first time competing in the event since 2019, Chan logged a PR of nearly 3 full seconds. Crispell finished third in 1:11.56.

Hatzold claimed top billing in the 50 free, posting a season-best 26.05. Faith Cortright shattered her previous personal best in the event with a 26.53 to finish runner-up.

Bowne added a victory in the 100 free to her ledger, touching the wall in 57.22 to lead a 1-2-3 sweep that also included Mackenzie Wall (59.03) and Lowry (59.63).
The Lions made it back-to-back sweeps in the 200 back, where Colleen Scanlon tallied a first-place swim at 2:22.67; Hesse was second at 2:25.09 and Jelinek third with a 2:30.01.

After coming up just shy in the 100 breast, Chan produced a dominating effort in the 500 free, notching a 5:29.79 to outpace Ramapo's runner-up by nearly 15 seconds.

Tucker registered a new personal best in the 100 fly, winning the event with a time of 1:02.28.

Gabi Valladares, the two-time reigning NJAC diver of the week, achieved her second NCAA regional cut with a score of 255.30 on the 1-meter dive.

The meet ended on an exciting note, as TCNJ's two 200 free relay teams went stroke for stroke in a thrilling heat. Kayla Jelinek, Bowne, Carolyn Mazzacco, and Chan finished in 1:48.13 to edge teammates Gabi Valladares, Wall, Harty, and Hesse by .26 ticks.

Cameraon Carrazza scored a second-place standing in the 200 fly at 2:28.74, while Crispell was runner-up in the 200 breast (2:38.60) and Hannah took second in the 200 IM (2:23.05).

Sofia Harty was second in the 1000 free (12:04.14), where Scanlon (12:11.09) placed third.

The Lions hit the road for the first time to face No. 4 NYU next Saturday.
