11/6/2021 5:07:00 PM

NEW YORK – Zoe Chan won two events and registered an NCAA B-cut to headline the TCNJ women's swimming team's dual meet at national powerhouse NYU on Saturday.

Chan took first place in both the 100 fly and 200 fly, staking her claim as one of the nation's best in a 211-87 setback to the 4th-ranked Violets.

Chan touched first in the 200 fly at a season-best time of 2:06.86, then came right back to lower her own top-5 mark in Division III in the 100 fly. The senior clocked a 56.86, an B-cut standard and good for fourth among all Division III swimmers.

Chan also swam the lead leg of the 400 free relay, which moved into the top-15 in the nation with a Metro-leading time of 3:40.93. Shannon Hesse, Cameron Carrazza, and Rachel Hannah joined Chan.

Hesse was the other Lion to secure a first-place finish, edging the field with a time of 24.53 in the 50 free. Hannah was fourth with a personal-best 25.48, and Brianna Hatzold placed fifth on a season-best 25.83.

Hesse also nabbed third place in the 100 free (55.21), where Hannah secured another PR at 55.42 to take fourth.

Gabi Valladares was terrific in the diving events. She posted a season-best 266.63 on 1-meter, then recorded a score of 304.13 on the 3-meter dive; Valladares is now one of just three divers in Division III to eclipse the 300-point mark this season.

Haley Crispell produced a pair of third-place swims in the 100 breast (season-best 1:10.71) and 200 breast (2:35.38).

Carrazza finished fourth in the 200 free (2:03.07), while Sofia Harty (1:03.76) and Colleen Scanlon were fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 100 back.

Autumn-Brook Tucker was impressive in her debuts in the 1650 free (19:00.09) and 400 IM (4:49.94), while Faith Cortright landed fifth in the 500 free (5:37.18) and sixth in the 1650 free (19:16.91).

The Lions have two weeks off before heading to Merchant Marine for an invitational on November 20.
