PRINCETON, N.J. – Andrew Lodge and
Roman Rychkov each notched a personal best, an individual win, and contributed to a sensational relay performance to lead the TCNJ men's track and field team during Sunday's Joe Handelman Invitational at Princeton.
Rychkov lowered his personal best from last week in the 600 meters, taking first place in a record-breaking time of 1:20.49. Rychkov's run supplanted Thomas Livecci's 1:20.71 from 2016 as the fastest in school history.
Alex Amoia also produced a PR, claiming second place at 1:22.93.
Rychkov and Lodge were also part of the 4x400-meter relay unit that notched the sixth-fastest time in Division III. Along with
Brett Schuett and Amoia, the Lions' quartet finished in 3:22.94.
Lodge, meanwhile, established a new personal best to win the 300-meter dash at 35.69, headlining a string of six TCNJ sprinters in the top-eight.
Tyler Scott was second with a 36.01.
Matthew Plumeri knocked a full second off his PR with a time of 37.98 to place fifth.
Tyrese Gilbert took sixth (38.20), while
Andrew Ellis (38.59) and
Jason Andriopoulos (38.62) each recorded new individual bests.
Jason Engler clocked an 8.74 in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles, matching the PR he set last week at the TCNJ Winter Open. He also placed third in the long jump (20-6.25), where
Daniel Gleason tacked on two feet to last week's effort with a mark of 20-5.25.
Scott made the finals of the 60-meter dash, crossing the line in 7.17 to edge teammate
Tom Domozych by .003 seconds for the eighth and final qualifying slot. He then lowered his personal best from prelims to 7.08, good for third in the NJAC, to place sixth in the finals heat.
Lodge (7.26),
Daniel Gleason (7.69), and
Andrew Ellis (7.80) all made their debuts in the 60-meter dash, while
Matthew Plumeri clocked a personal-best 7.49.
Sean Burtnett (1:25.81),
Ben Winkler (1:26.71), Schuett (1:26.86), and
Michael Brown (1:28.02) all contributed to the Lions snagging six of the top seven positions in the 600.
Zachary Mackiewicz obliterated his former personal best by over two-and-a-half feet with a mark of 45-11.25 in the weight throw.
Warlys Lizardo (39-6.50) and
George Agyei-Sam (33-7.50) also competed in the event.
