NEW YORK, N.Y. – Jason Engler's first-place run in the 400-meter dash headlined the TCNJ men's track and field team's indoor opener at the program's annual Winter Open on Saturday.
Engler claimed top billing with a mark of 52.12 in the 400, where teammate
Tyrese Gilbert was second at 53.61 seconds.
Roman Rychkov landed fourth in the 600-meter run, where his time of 1:20.80 is currently the best in Division III while ranking 18th across all divisions and second in program history. He also combined with Engler,
Andrew Lodge, and Benjamin Winkler to place fifth in the 4x400-meter relay (3:26.99).
George Agyei-Sam posted a runner-up finish in the shot put, uncorking a heave of 44-9.0 in his collegiate debut.
Zachary Mackiewicz was third at 42-11.0 and also placed fifth in the weight throw with a 43-3.25.
Agyei-Sam finished eighth in the weight throw (35-4.50), just behind Warlys Lizardo (37-6.0).
Engler also finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.74) and fifth in the high jump (6-2.00) on a busy night for the Lions junior at the 168
th Street Armory. Ryan Bussanich finished sixth in the 60 hurdles at 9.31.
Tyler Scott was fifth in the 300-meter dash (35.81).
Thomas Domozych took eighth in the 60-meter dash at 7.11 seconds.
