NEW YORK, N.Y. – The TCNJ women's track and field team got its indoor season off to a fast start with a strong performance at the TCNJ Winter Open on Saturday night.

Taking to the 168th Street Armory in New York City, the Lions picked up five first-place efforts across a variety of events.

Megan Gasnick opened her senior season with a winning run in the 300-meter dash, where her time of 41.14 was just enough to edge classmate Maria Grill (41.58). Amanda Demko placed fourth (42.70), while Eliza Bruncaj was fifth (personal-best 42.73), Ashlyn MacLure sixth (42.98), and Valandra Riggins eighth (43.88).

Alli Uhl claimed top billing in the 600-meter run with a mark of 1:35.98, which is the second-fastest time in Division III on the young season and narrowly missed the school record of 1:35.80 established by Katie LaCapria in 2019. Sameerah Khan placed third in 1:43.44, and Olivia Class earned fourth place with a 1:43.88.

Zoe Iovino captured first place in the triple jump with a leap of 34-9.50.

Jessica Reilly won the weight throw with a toss of 46-3.25. Jean Walter placed third in the event at 40-8.25.

The final win of the night belonged to the 4x400-meter relay unit of MacLure, Grill, Uhl, and Gasnick, who easily outpaced the rest of the field with a clocking of 4:03.60. That mark is good for fifth in the country and tops the NJAC.

Karla Gomez-Matos was runner-up in the long jump (16-7.0), where Iovino was third (15-5.50) and Meghan Macaluso sixth (15-2.75).

Kayley Harnett placed third in the high jump (4-11.0), with Abigail Pfaff in fourth (4-9.00) and Macaluso in fifth (4-7.00).

Edith Gonzalez snagged third in the shot put with a mark of 34-4.25.

Sadie Tuohy opened her indoor campaign with a fourth-place effort in the 1,000 meters (3:17.70).

Victoria Purritano finished fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:02.76), where Siret Mann was seventh (1:05.10), and ninth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.55). Bruncaj ran to a sixth-place showing in the latter at 9.25 seconds; her time is the second-fastest in the NJAC and second-fastest by any freshman in Division III.

Grill was sixth in the 60-meter dash (8.06) and MacLure took seventh (8.22).

Emily Diszler finished sixth in the weight throw (34-10.50) and ninth in the shot put  (29-4.75), while Kerri McCarthy placed sixth in the shot put (31-8.75) and seventh in the weight throw (34-8.25).
