Garcia-Beltran Named Most Outstanding Athlete, Women's T&F Places 12 on Outdoor All-NJAC Teams

PITMAN, N.J. – Twelve members of the TCNJ women's track and field team saw their names on the all-conference list released on Thursday, with Lucia Garcia-Beltran headlining the list with a major award.
 
FIRST TEAM
  • Garcia-Beltran was named the Thomas M. Gerrity Most Outstanding Athlete after racking up three gold medals at the championship meet. The senior placed first in both the 100 (11.96) and 200 (24.19) and anchored the 4x100 relay which also placed first (46.83). Her time in the 200 tied the meet-record time.
  • Kelsey Thomas and Mackenzie Burke both collected two golds on the weekend, one in the 4x100 and the other in the 4x400.
  • Petra Doherty took home a gold medal as a part of the 4x100 relay.
  • Kelly O'Grady and Brenna Omert helped the 4x400 relay to the win.
  • Lia Malave placed first in the long jump (5.49m), claiming her first ever NJAC title.
  • Allison Lavin successfully defended her indoor shot put gold medal (12.65m).
  • Sarah Scepkowski won the heptathlon once again, racking up 3,973 points for her third straight gold in the event.
SECOND TEAM
  • Both Thomas and Burke added a silver medal to their haul, making it three medals for each of them. Thomas got hers in the 400 (57.53) and Burke placed second in the 400 hurdles (1:02.30). Burke came close to getting the gold in the race, finishing just 0.04 behind the winner.
  • Scepkowski also placed second in the high jump to earn a Second Team selection.
  • Samantha Magin took second behind Scepkowski in the heptathlon, taking the event's silver medal for a second straight year.
HONORABLE MENTION
  • Kelly O'Grady earned third place in the 800 (2:14.82), securing a place on the podium by more than five seconds.
  • Ella Daly captured her first track all-conference honor, running to a third-place finish in the 5K (17:52.08).
  • Emersen Levins placed third in the pole vault (3.30m), earning her first career conference medal.
  • Lavin won the bronze medal in the javelin (39.40m), medaling in the event for the first time in her career.
  • Just as she did in the indoor season, Malave earned an Honorable Mention nod in the triple jump (10.79m).
