EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ women's swimming and diving team closed out an undefeated season on Saturday, defeating Kean and Montclair State University in a virtual tri-meet. The Lions topped the Cougars, 241-82, and the Red Hawks, 219-129, in a virtual tri-meet to finish the season 3-0.
 
"It's amazing what you can accomplish when you have a whole team behind you and the right mind set," said head coach Jennifer Harnett '93. "This was a great way to finish a challenging season. I am proud of this team and happy that our seniors got to finish their careers on a high note."
 
The Lions opened day two with a victory as Sofia Harty, Melanie Fosko, Zoe Chan, and Shannon Hesse won the 200-medley relay in a time of 1:51.94. The time currently ranks 24^th nationally.
 
Following the break, Nicki Meskin finished third overall and second in both dual scoring in the 400-IM with a time of 5:06.82.
 
Chan then won her second event of the day with a swim of 56.86 in the 100-fly. Her time is currently fourth in the country.
 
Kelsey Ballard finished second in the 200-free behind a lone swimmer from Montclair State with a time of 2:01.17.
 
Fosko and Haley Crispell righted the ship for the Lions with a one-two finish in the 100-breast. Fosko's posted the winning time of 1:09.21.
 
"I'm so proud of how my team rose to the occasion, came in with such amazing attitudes, and had great races," said Crispell. "The energy that everyone brought made it such a fun weekend!"
 
Sofia Harty placed fourth overall and led TCNJ in the 100-back with a swim of 1:04.04.
 
TCNJ ended the morning session with a second-place finish in the 800-free. Jamie Bowne, Cameron Carrazza, Meskin, and Tricia Thomas touched the wall at 8:19.66.
 
Meskin opened the night session with a second-place swim in the 1,650-free with a time of 19:49.50. Allison Lowry finished third with a sub-20 minute time of 19:59.70.
 
Megan Healey won the 200-back with a time of 2:13.62. Hesse continued the momentum with a win in the 100-free, touching the wall in 54.12. Bowne, Carrazza, Ballard, and Darby VanDeVeen placed third through sixth in the event.
 
Fosko and Crispell swept the breast events with a one-two finish in the 200. Fosko's winning time was 2:31.40. Chan finished her sweep of the fly events with a winning swim of 2:06.32 in the 200-fly. The time ranks fifth in the country.
 
The Lions closed out the season with a winning swim in the 400-free relay. Fosko, Chan, Bowne, and Hesse stopped the clock at 3:39.53, 18^th fastest in the country this season.
 
Prior to the meet, the team honored its 12 graduating senior members and graduating senior Chiara Mennonna, a three-year team member who opted out of the 2020-21 season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
