GENEVA, N.Y. – The TCNJ women's tennis team competed at the ITA Regionals over the weekend, held at Hobart College.
Charlotte Roarty reached the third round of the singles competition, and she joined with
Jenny Landells to reach the finals of the doubles competition.
Roarty and Landells won four matches on their way to the doubles finals. In round one, they defeated a St. Lawrence doubles team, 8-2, before an 8-7 (7-5) victory in the second round over Skidmore. In the quarterfinals, they defeated Jensrud/Balyk of NYU, 8-7.
Moving into the semifinals, they defeated Libby/Ruiz Vega of Rochester, 8-2, to move into the finals against another NYU team, Fordham/Plakk. In the finals, however, the NYU pair knocked off the TCNJ duo, 6-1, 6-1.
TCNJ had another doubles pair reach the quarterfinals.
Chase Eisenberg and
Alexa Vasile won a pair of matches against an NYU team and a pair from Vassar before falling to the Libby/Ruiz Vega team from Rochester in the quarters.
On the singles side, Eisenberg, Roarty and
Aira Abalos all won their first round matches. Roarty moved through the second round with a victory over Audrey Soohoo of Skidmore before falling in the third round to NYU's Fordham, 6-2, 6-1.
The Lions return to action on Sunday at Jefferson.
