READING, Pa. – An impressive effort from the distance squad highlighted the TCNJ men's track and field team's performance at the Reading Winter Invitational on Saturday.
Kevin Christensen (mile) and
Jack Ennis (5,000 meters) each picked up individual victories for the Lions, while
Roman Rychkov continued his impressive campaign by headlining a dominant team effort with a win in the 800 meters.
Christensen's time of 4:22.39 was a PR by almost five seconds, and
Michael Rodriguez was right behind at 4:23.52 in his mile debut.
Ennis uncorked a nearly 10-second PR in the 5,000 meters, where his time of 15:27.87 highlighted a 1-2-3 finish in the event for TCNJ. Ben Fanta, the reigning NJAC rookie of the week, also secured a sizeable personal best at 15:37.95, and Pat Mulligan was hot on his heels with a 15:38.98.
John Raisley finished runner-up with a huge PR in the 3,000 meters (9:10.26), and
Chase Miller took third with a 9:11.40 in his event debut.
The Lions swept the podium in the 800. Rychkov finished first in 1:57.06, and
Sean Burtnett narrowly missed a PR at 1:57.36.
Stuart Gruters (2:00.71) and
Fabian Mestanza (2:00.75) went nearly step-for-step in third and fourth place, respectively.
Scott took third in the 200-meter dash (23.10), and Lodge was fourth in the 400-meter dash (51.62).
TCNJ had two of its relays in the top three of the 4x400, with Lodge, Rychkov, Scott, and
Alex Amoia cruising to top billing with a 3:25.48.
Tom Domozych placed fifth in the 60-meter dash (7.20), where Scott was seventh (7.22) and
Ray Schmitt eighth (7.27). Domozych also finished sixth in the pole vault (12-11.50).
Jason Engler finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.83 seconds. He also competed in the high jump, placing 10
th with a 5-8.75.
Zachary Mackiewicz was fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 45-9.75.
George Agyei-Sam took fifth in the shot put (44-0.75), and
Stephen Daramola was ninth (40-7.50).
