STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The TCNJ men's track and field team got a preview of the NJAC indoor championship site and a taste of Division I competition on Friday as the Lions took part in Albany's Great Dane Invitational.

The Lions produced a number of strong performances against a field loaded with Division I representatives at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility, which will host the NJAC championship meet in a little more than three weeks.

First among those premier performances was the last event of the night. Andrew Lodge, Roman Rychkov, Tyler Scott, and Alex Amoia finished the 4x400-meter relay in a blazing 3:19.12. Converted to 3:22.31 for track size, it currently places the group fifth on the Division III performance list. NJAC counterpart Rowan seized the top time in the country (3:18.32) in the same race.

Tom Domozych (7.06), Raymond Schmitt (7.16), and Lodge (7.22) all achieved new PRs in the 60-meter dash, where Tyler Scott matched Schmitt with a 7.16. Scott grabbed an indoor PR of his own in the 200 with a 22.62, while Lodge crossed in 23.03 and Schmitt posted an indoor-best 23.66.

Rychkov logged one of the highest finishes of the day for the Lions, placing 10th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.85. Sean Burtnett registered a 52.58 in his event debut.

Coming off a PR in the mile last weekend, Kevin Christensen came through with a massive run in the 3,000 meters, trimming more than 20 seconds off his previous personal best with a clocking of 8:37.07. Michael Rodriguez logged a time of 8:52.78 in his event debut, and Chase Miller sliced five seconds off his former PR with a 9:05.43.

Amoia completed the 800 meters in 1:58.01.

Jason Engler recorded an 8.81 in the 60-meter hurdles.

Stuart Gruters narrowly missed a career-best time in the mile (4:20.48), and Gabriel Calandri clocked a 15:40.47 in his 5,000 meters debut.
