SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The TCNJ women's swimming and diving team fell to No. 17 Swarthmore, 206-52, on the road Saturday afternoon.
The Lions (2-1) were led by senior Shannon Hesse's standout performance in the sprint freestyle. The senior won the 50 freestyle by outsprinting the field with a time of 24.73, and followed up her winning performance by swimming a 55.29 to finish second in the 100 free.
Follow senior Rachel Hannah saw two top-three finishes in the meet. Hannah finished third in both the 100 backstroke and the 100 freestyle with times of 1:01.06 and 55.33, respectively.
Junior Sarah Burton set a new personal-best time in the 1000 freestyle after clocking a 11:19.19. Her time ranks fifth in the NJAC and eighth overall in the Metro region.

Jamie Bowne swam the seventh-fastest time in the Metro region in both the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly with times of 2:02.59 and 1:00.91, respectively.
The 200 medley relay team of Hannah, Cameron Carrazza, Bowne and Hesse swam a season-best time of 1:51.93 to finish second.
The Lions will travel out to Kings Port, N.Y. next week for the USMMA Invitational. The meet is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start time.
