EWING, N.J. – Junior TCNJ football standouts Malin Jasinski and Mark Pierro were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
The prestigious award recognizes student-athletes who achieved at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and are either a starter or key reserve on their respective teams. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
Jasinski and Pierro were stars in the classroom and on the field, each collecting a second-team all-conference nod from the NJAC.
Jasinski jumped into an expanded role and ran with it, registering 34 receptions for 313 yards – both second on the team to Thomas Burke – and a pair of touchdowns as a slot receiver. He also started two games at quarterback, completing 29 of 54 passes for 382 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 152 yards. Jasinski posted four five-plus reception games, including a seven-catch, 72-yard output at Rowan.
Pierro was second to Nick Celli in both tackles for loss (10.5) and sacks (6.5), ranking sixth and third, respectively, in the conference in those categories. He notched at least a half-sack in all but two games, including a 2.5-sack effort against Montclair State.
