2/11/2022 8:38:00 PM

BOSTON – The TCNJ women's track and field team piled up a procession of personal bests in sprinting events during the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University on Friday night.

Maria Grill moved into the top spot in the NJAC with a sizzling 200-meter sprint, clocking in at 25.36 to slash nearly a second off her previous PR. Ashlyn MacLure (26.31) and Valandra Riggins (26.48) also posted indoor personal bests; Along with Megan Gasnick and Amanda Demko, that trio helps the Lions boast five of the top seven times on the conference performance list in the 200. Grill placed 40th overall, a highly impressive showing in a field of well over 200 entrants, including a bevy from Division I institutions.

Riggins turned in the best race of her career in the 60-meter dash, logging a personal-best 8.04 to finish fifth overall and outpace her previous PR of 8.07 from Albany's Great Dane Classic two weeks ago. Her time is TCNJ's best of the season and ranks third on the NJAC performance list. Grill registered her best time (8.10) since the indoor opener on December 4, and MacLure (8.22) also competed for the Lions.

Demko ran a 57.98 in the 400, an indoor collegiate best by more than a full second. She finished 41st overall in a D1-laden field that wound up just shy of 200 sprinters. TCNJ occupies the top five spots in the NJAC in the 400 - Gasnick, Demko, Grill, Riggins, and Uhl, in that order.

Alli Uhl placed 31st among 186 competitors with a 2:12.88 in the 800, where Erin Hanlon (2:25.81) and Sameerah Khan (2:27.21) also represented TCNJ with solid times.

Jazzlyn Diaz (5:24.95) and Salini Iyer (5:26.70) ran the mile.

Eliza Bruncaj came within one-hundredth of a second from matching her personal best with a time of 9.22 in the 60-meter hurdles, placing second in the open competition.

Demko, Bruncaj, Riggins, and Grill teamed to finish the 4x400-meter relay in 3:56.54, the Lions' best time in the event this winter. Grill ran a 57.91 split as the anchor leg, the best 400-meter time of her career.

NOTE: The women's track and field team also sent a contingent to Monmouth's Winter Invitational on Friday night. Results were not immediately available late Friday night, but a full recap of the weekend's performances will be posted on tcnjathletics.com at the conclusion of the meet on Saturday.
