WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The TCNJ men's track and field team kicked off the outdoor season at Monmouth on Saturday, putting up a number of personal bests.
Andrew Lodge headlined an impressive sprint showing, taking fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.03) and logging a personal-best 21.93 in the 200.
Tom Domozych finished in 22.21 in his event debut, while
Justin Gomez posted a PR of 22.74 and
Ray Schmitt notched an outdoor-best 22.78.
Tyler Scott led the Lions with a 50.41 in the 300, while
Alex Amoia (51.44) and
Andrew Gratti (51.94) each posted new personal bests.
Domozych, Gomez, Scott, and Schmitt clocked a strong 42.05 to finish 2
nd in the 4x100-meter relay.
Ryan Bussanich competed in the 110-meter hurdles (17.62) and 400-meter hurdles (1:05.65) for the first time.
On the distance side,
Benjamin Fanta (15:18.03) and
John Raisley (15:46.11) each produced a big PR in the 5000 meters.
Andrew Chamberlain was just off his personal best in the 1500 meters (4:08.52), while
Fabian Mestanza's 4:10.48 was good for a new career best.
Michael Iannotta was close behind at 4:13.85.
Michael Bond paced a large TCNJ contingent in the 10,000 meters with a time of 32:51.23.
Jack Ennis (33:12.40),
Chase Miller (33:12.54), and
Matthew Smith (3:13.20) were all less than a second apart, with Smith posting a new PR, and Pat Mulligan wasn't far back with a 33:17.24.
Andrew Ellis registered a big PR in the javelin, placing fourth with a heave of 51.63 meters.
Jahmir Anderson made his outdoor debut in the high jump (1.80 meters) and long jump (5.69 meters).
Stephen Daramola placed fourth in the discus throw (44.09 meters) and also led the Lions in the shot put (13.63 meters), where
Luke Schrank-Garcia (13.26) and Zach Mackiewicz (13.17) secured new personal bests. Mackiewicz also paced the throwers in the hammer (38.36 meters) and logged a mark of 42.34 meters in the discus throw.
Warlys Lizardo made his event debuts in the discus (36.55 meters) and hammer (35.89).
Brandon Kuse debuted in the hammer (32.73) and was just off his PR in the shot put (12.11).
The track and field teams host the TCNJ Invitational on Saturday.
