WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The TCNJ women's track and field team opened the outdoor season on Saturday with a strong all-around performance at Monmouth.
Nicole Lester highlighted an impressive field effort for the Lions, sharing first-place honors with a mark of 3.50 meters in the pole vault.
Amanda Murillo finished third in the javelin with a career-best 41.58 meters.
Kayley Harnett (1.55 meters) and
Abigail Pfaff (1.50) finished fourth and sixth, respectively, in the high jump, and
Zoe Iovino finished fourth in the triple jump (10.45m).
Karla Gomez-Matos made her outdoor debut in the long jump (4.99m).
Kerri McCarthy marked a new PR in the shot put (11.03 meters) and debuted in the hammer throw (32.36m), as did
Emily Diszler (36.30m) and
Jessica Reilly (34.92m) behind
Jean Walter (36.73m). Reilly competed in the discus throw (31.51m) and shot put (9.90m) for the first time.
Eliza Bruncaj placed second in the 400 hurdles (1:05.01) and sixth in the 100 hurdles (15.06), where
Victoria Purritano registered a two-second PR at 15.47.
Gomez-Matos made her debut in the 100-meter dash (13.31), and
Erin Buquicchio ran the 200 (27.15).
Ashlyn MacLure also made her outdoor debut in the 400 (1:00.56), finishing just ahead of
Valandra Riggins' huge PR (1:00.94).
Molly Bossdorf,
Salini Iyer,
Jazzlyn Diaz, and Sarah Tuohy finished fourth in the 4x400-meter relay (4:21.00).
Tuohy's 2:26.70 was a PR in the 800, with Iyer (2:28.09) and Diaz (2:30.41) close on her heels.
Kelsey Kobus snagged a PR in the 1500 meters (4:57.05).
Jenna Priore clocked in at 19:15.69 in the 5,000 meters, where
Elizabeth Askin's 19:17.88 was a personal best by well over a minute.
Riley Stellitano finished in 19:18.05, a PR by more than 20 seconds.
Nicole Fenske was first across for TCNJ in the 10,000 meters (41:20.35), with
Brittany Schofield finishing in 41:44.41 and
Tara Donoghue shattering her previous PR by more than 30 seconds with a 42:19.02.
The track and field teams host the TCNJ Invitational on Saturday.
