PRINCETON, N.J. – The TCNJ men's track and field team delivered a pair of top-10 national relays at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invite, part of a highly successful Saturday that also featured a third-place team finish at West Chester's Bill Butler Invitational.
Tom Domozych,
Andrew Lodge,
Tyler Scott, and Raymond Schmitt blazed their way into the top-10 in Division III with a 41.63 in the 4x100-meter dash. The time is third-best in TCNJ history and puts them behind only Rowan in the Metro Region.
Lodge and Scott also joined
Roman Rychkov and
Alex Amoia to finish third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:17.07, taking over the top spot in the Metro Region and elevating to sixth in Division III.
Domozych etched his name into the all-time top-10 list with a 10.92 in the 100-meter dash, a PR that ranks him ninth in school history. He also clocked a 22.54 in the 200-meter dash, good for 15
th in the Metro.
Schmitt (11.11) and Scott (11.16) also ran the 100 for the Lions.
Lodge took over the No. 2 spot in the Metro Region and moved into the top-40 in the nation with a season-best 49.21 in the 400-meter dash.
Zachary Mackiewicz unleashed a personal-best throw of 48.24 meters in the discus, moving up one spot to fourth on the program's all-time performance list and into the top-15 in the country.
Bill Butler Invitational
Brett Schuett finished runner-up in the 400-meter dash (50.68), where
Jason Engler was fourth (51.06) and
Tyrese Gilbert was just off his PR at 52.56.
Schuett also placed sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.27 seconds.
Matthew Plumeri shaved two-tenths of a second off his PR with a 23.80.
Michael Rodriguez took runner-up honors in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.77, where
Michael Brown (2:01.76) made his debut and finished one spot ahead of
Fabian Mestanza (2:01.93) in 10
th place.
Andrew Chamberlain clocked a 2:02.23 in his event debut.
Mark Koerner also logged a second-place effort, completing the 1500 meters in a personal-best 4:01.40.
Michael Iannotta also notched a new career best at 4:07.78.
Matthew Smith made yet another TCNJ runner-up, trimming seven seconds from his PR with a 16:08.77 in the 5000 meters.
Brian Micco also knocked about six seconds off his personal record to take third at 16:12.10.
James Blair placed sixth in the 110 hurdles (16.35).
In the field,
Alexander Bogues gave the Lions an event winner in the javelin, where his mark of 49.96 meters was a new personal best.
Jonnathan Moreira placed third at 47.28 meters.
Luke Schrank-Garcia registered a personal-best 13.35 meters in the shot put.
Brandon Kuse placed fourth with a career-best 39.84-meter toss in the discus throw, where
Warlys Lizardo's 38.88 meters was a big PR.
Lizardo led the way in the hammer, placing third with a mark of 40.46 meters. Kuse added more than two meters to his career-best mark with a 37.40-meter heave, and Schrank-Garcia also produced a sizeable PR at 35.15 meters.
