CHESTER, Pa. – The TCNJ men's track and field team won both relays, including posting a top-five national mark, in a stellar performance to close out the Widener Invitational on Saturday.
Andrew Lodge,
Roman Rychkov,
Brett Schuett, and
Tyler Scott won the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:15.04, more than a second clear of second-place Ramapo. It's the 10
th-best time in program history and put the Lions' group 4
th in all of Division III.
The 4x100-meter relay quartet of Ton Domozych,
Andrew Lodge,
Tyler Scott, and Raymond Schmitt started the day with a bang, winning the race in 41.90 seconds to edge out runner-up Lebanon Valley by close to a full second.
Domozych finished runner-up with a time of 11.06 in the 100-meter dash, where Schmitt (11.16) and
Justin Gomez (11.18) also landed in the top-five.
Lodge was also runner-up in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 21.99 seconds.
Tyler Scott was just off his PR with a 22.25 to finish fifth, and Domozych matched his career best at 22.54 to take seventh. Gomez' 22.70 was a PR by more than a tenth of a tick.
Kevin Christensen's 3:54.57 in the 1500 meters was a new personal record and good for eighth in program history, while
Stuart Gruters (3:57.71) and
Michael Rodriguez (3:58.15) were not far behind with career bests of their own.
John Raisley's 4:02.41 was also a new individual best.
Jason Engler finished seventh in the 110 hurdles at 15.86 seconds, just shy of a PR.
Brett Schuett placed sixth in the 400-meter dash with a season-best 50.39, and Engler was just a few steps behind with a season-best 50.48.
Tyrese Gilbert's 51.66 was a PR by three-quarters of a second.
Alex Amoia (1:54.67) and
Roman Rychkov (1:54.68) went step-for-step in the 800 meters, finishing in sixth and seventh place, respectively.
Matthew Richardson's time of 10:18.18 in the 3000-meter steeplechase was a new collegiate best by almost a minute.
Andrew Ellis finished ninth in the javelin (48.60 meters), and
Jonnathan Moreira was close behind at 48.16 meters.
