CHESTER, Pa. – The TCNJ women's track and field team produced a litany of premier performances on the second and final day of the Widener Invitational on Saturday.
First and foremost among the Lions' top efforts was the 4x400-meter relay unit of
Eliza Bruncaj,
Amanda Demko,
Maria Grill, and
Alli Uhl. The quartet won the event in a time of 3:50.02, good for second in all of Division III this season and the eighth-best time in school history.
Amanda Murillo led the way in the field with a huge mark in the javelin. Her 42.68-meter throw was a PR by nearly a full meter and vaulted her to seventh on the NCAA performance list. It was also the second-best mark in program history.
Bruncaj placed third – and first among Division III competitors – with a time of 1:04.81 in the 400-meter hurdles, a new personal best.
Sameerah Khan's 1:09.07 was also a PR.
Kelsey Kobus logged nearly a 10-second PR in the 1500 meters, placing sixth in a time of 4:48.29. Teammate
Jazzlyn Diaz was right behind in seventh, crossing the line in 4:49.85 for a PR of more than five seconds.
Salini Iyer missed a career best of her own by slightly more than half a second at 4:57.59, while
Molly Bossdorf's 5:08.27 was a personal record by almost 15 ticks.
Valandra Riggins finished seventh with a career-best 12.57 in the 100-meter dash, where Grill was ninth at 12.64 and Demko 12
th at 12.76.
Grill moved into the all-time top-10 at TCNJ with a career-best time of 25.34 in the 200-meter dash, good for fourth place in the event. Riggins slashed more than a half-second off her PR with a time of 25.78, and Demko was right behind at 25.80.
Erin Hanlon scored a big PR in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 1:00.49 to surpass her previous standard by almost a full second.
Erin Buquicchio clocked a 1:01.39.
Uhl was sixth in the 800 meters with a mark of 2:15.50, good for third among Division III entrants.
Paige Hammond was seventh in the 3000-meter steeplechase (13:13.56).
The relay unit of
Liz Lam, Buquicchio,
Jaiya Fields, and
Karla Gomez-Matos placed fourth in the 4x100-meter relay at 50.36.
Kerri McCarthy uncorked a massive PR in the hammer throw, posting a mark of 41.20 meters to move into sixth in program history. It was a career-best by almost six meters.
Nicole Lester took third in the pole vault (3.40 meters).
Meagan Scherer placed fifth in the javelin at 34.16 meters, while
Jessica Reilly was ninth in the hammer (41.20m).
Kayley Harnett tied for fifth in the long jump, clearing 1.51 meters, and
Zoe Iovino was fifth in the triple jump (10.68m).
