PHILADELPHIA – Kevin Christensen made the most of one of the sport's biggest stages on Thursday night, putting up one of the best steeplechase performances in the history of TCNJ men's track and field at the world-famous Penn Relays at Franklin Field.
Christensen completed the 3,000-meter course in 9:07.87, a personal best by over four seconds and enough to move him up one spot to third on the program's all-time performance list. The mark sits just .07 ticks off Jason Geipel's second-place time from 2000; the school record is Andy Gallagher's 9:04.62 from 2013. It is also tops in the Metro Region and good for 7
th in all of Division III.
Christensen not only showed he belongs among the Lions' all-time best, but the junior proved his mettle alongside a bevy of power conference Division I competitors. He placed 16
th overall, ahead of athletes from Pittsburgh, Clemson, Indiana, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Penn State.
