Women's T&F Concludes Regular Season With Lions Outdoor Invitational

EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ women's track and field team wrapped up the regular season with a string of personal bests and strong performances at its home outdoor invitational on Saturday.

At the conclusion of the meet, the Lions honored their senior class as part of Senior Meet festivities. 

Valandra Riggins was one of two individual winners for the Lions, posting a personal-best 12.48-second time to win the 100-meter dash.

Maria Grill and Amanda Demko tied for fourth in the 200-meter dash at 25.42, a PR for Demko), while Ashlyn MacLure (25.54) and Riggins (25.65) also logged new career bests. MacLure also placed sixth in the 100 (12.82).

Alli Uhl was the other event winner, taking the top time in the 400-meter dash at 58.49 seconds.

Eliza Bruncaj (15.35) and Victoria Purritano (15.36) went step-for-step in placing seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles, while Sameerah Khan's fourth-place run of 1:08.92 was a PR in the 400-meter hurdles.

Salini Iyer (2:24.33), Sarah Tuohy (2:26.05), and Jazzlyn Diaz (2:26.44) all posted new personal bests in the 800.

Emily Hoegler (5:06.38) and Valentina Palomo (5:09.21) clocked nine-second PRs in the 1500, where Christine Di Iorio also turned in the best time of her career (5:38.79).

Nicole Arita (20:29.97) and Lea Martin (21:04.99) finished fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 5000 meters.

Zoe Iovino led the jumps squad with a runner-up effort in the triple jump, a leap of 11.27 meters that stands as the third-best mark in program history.

Kayley Harnett was second in the high jump at 1.60 meters, a PR that ranks seventh in school history. Abigail Pfaff was just off her PR at 1.55 meters.

Amanda Murillo placed runner-up in the javelin on Friday with a throw of 40.66 meters.

Kerri McCarthy jumped up to seventh on the all-time list at TCNJ with a personal-best 11.86 meters in the shot put, and also led the hammer throw contingent at 40.90 meters. Edith Gonzalez placed 13th in the shot put (11.32m), three slots behind McCarthy.

Emily Diszler led the Lions with a 34.38-meter heave in the discus throw, where Jean Walter notched a personal-best 32.85 meters, a hundredth of a meter beyond her previous record from last week's Widener Invitational. Lily Lorio's 30.12-meter toss was also a personal best.

Nicole Lester placed fourth in the pole vault (3.50m), and Karla Gomez-Matos took seventh in the long jump (5.03m).

The track and field teams host the NJAC outdoor championships next Saturday and Sunday.
