EWING, N.J. – TCNJ men's tennis standout
Justin Wain is a national qualifier.
Wain was one of 32 players selected to compete in the singles competition of the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships. The Lions' senior will test his mettle against the nation's best May 27-29 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
For the individual championships, the national committee selected a percentage of singles players and doubles teams from each of the eight regions. The individual championships consist of 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams. The selection of teams and individuals for the championships is based on won-lost record, strength of schedule and eligibility and availability of student-athletes.
Wain has enjoyed a tremendous final campaign, playing his way to NJAC East Division Player of the Year honors and earning all-conference accolades in both singles and doubles. He lost just once in singles play in duals this season, a straight-set defeat to West Division Player of the Year and fellow NCAA qualifier John Zakowski of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Wain defeated one other NCAA qualifier during the regular season, edging Swarthmore's Charley Force in a third-set super tiebreaker. Wain also handled Haverford's George Jiang, one of four alternates for the singles championships, in straight sets.
