PRINCETON, N.J. – Stuart Gruters achieved a massive personal best in the steeplechase as the TCNJ men's track and field team sent a limited contingent to Princeton's Elite Invitational on Saturday.
Gruters smashed his previous top time in the steeplechase, knocking nearly 15 seconds off and moving to fifth on the program's all-time charts with a 9:11.11. He placed fifth, outperforming several Division I entrants in the process and moving all the way up to 16
th in all of Division III.
Fresh off an NJAC title,
Tom Domozych,
Justin Gomez,
Tyler Scott, and
Ray Schmitt ran to a time of 41.79 in the 4x100-meter relay, just .16 seconds off their top time.
Gomez (11.26) and Schmitt (11.41) competed in the 100-meter dash, while
Jason Engler finished in 15.64 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles.
Gomez also ran the 200-meter dash in 23.02, with
Tyrese Gilbert narrowly missing a PR at 23.33. Gilbert clocked a 51.86 in the 400-meter dash.
Alex Amoia was close to his personal best with a 1:54.21 in the 800 meters.
Andrew Lodge, Scott,
Roman Rychkov, and
Brett Schuett completed the 4x400-meter relay in 3:17.80.
