MAHWAH, N.J. – The TCNJ women's swimming and diving team earned their first dual meet victory with a dominant 163-94 win over Ramapo on the road Saturday afternoon.
The Lions (1-2) proved to be a step above the Roadrunners (0-3) after earning 11 event victories alongside a sweep in the 100 back. Senior captain
Sarah Burton led the way with a pair of top-three NJAC times in the distance free.
GOLDEN RACES
- The Lions kicked off the meet with a stellar race in the 200 medley relay, as the relay team consistently entirely of underclassmen in Bridget Cleveland, Lilliana Kuball, Nisha Narayanan, and Katie Mazzacco clocked a combined time of 1:54.96.
- Burton began her stellar day in the 1000 free, posting the third-fastest conference time of 11:10.83 to secure the event victory for TCNJ. The senior followed up in the 500 free with the second fastest NJAC time at 5:28.97.
- Mazzacco had a standout day in the sprint free as the freshman came out with a pair of event victories. In the 200 free, Mazzacco clocked a 2:03.24 to beat out the field. She followed up in the 100 free with a time of 56.50, which beat out teammate Mackenzie Wall's second place time of 57.54.
- TCNJ brought out the brooms in the 100 back, as junior captain Colleen Scanlon led the sweep with her time of 1:05.80. She was followed by freshman Mary Kate Owens and sophomore Jillian Kenney in second and third, respectively.
- The 50 free went to Bridget Cleveland, who dashed her way to a time of 25.92 for her first individual win on the day. The freshman would follow up with an equally stellar race in the 200 back after clocking a 2:15.17, which beat out Scanlon who finished behind her with her time of 2:20.69.
- Kuball clocked a time of 2:32.80 in the 200 breast for her first individual event victory, before dominating the 200 IM with the fastest time of 2:17.63.
- TCNJ closed out the meet with a golden finish in the 200 free relay, with the quartet of Burton, Wall, Ren Wolstenholme, and Owens clocking a relay time of 1:46.13.
WEST CHESTER
- Competing separately at West Chester, the TCNJ divers were led by Beth Evaldi, who finished first in the 3-meter 6-dive with her score of 231.08. The sophomore would also finish third in the 1-meter 11-dive event with a score of 366.30.
