Women’s Cross Country Concludes Season at NCAA Championship Meet

CARLISLE, Pa. – The TCNJ women's cross country team wrapped up a stellar 2023 season with a 32nd-place finish in the NCAA Cross Country Championship meet on Saturday.

Competing in the championship for the first time since 2018 after winning the Metro Regionals Championship, the Lions once again utilized their pack mentality as the top five runners all crossed the finish line within a minute of each other.

FINISH LINE SNAPSHOTS
  • Senior Katherine Rice led the way for the Lions with a 233rd place finish to score 170 points with her 6k time of 23:23.5. Initially positioned 256th at the one mile mark, the senior moved herself up by 22 spots throughout the duration of the race to cross the finish line first for TCNJ.
  • Closely behind her was senior Captain Emily Hoegler, who placed 246th overall with her time of 23:32.2 to scored 182 points.
  • Freshman Naesha Gadie closed out her stellar rookie season in 261st place, scoring 194 points after crossing the line at 23:45.2.  
  • Sophomore Savannah Hodgens was next up, crossing the finish line in 273rd place to score 205 points with her time of 24:11.0. The sophomore improved by nine spots from the one mile checkpoint till the end of the race.
  • Senior captain Salini Iyer rounded out the top-five finishers for the blue and gold in 282nd place with her time of 24:30.6 to score 214 points.
  • Sophomore Alex Grivas and senior Lea Martin finished sixth and seventh for the Lions, respectively, with time of 25:31.0 and 25:47.2.
