Men’s Track and Field Takes On Joe Handelman Invite

PRINCETON, N.J. – Competing among a field of largely Division I athletes, the TCNJ men's track and field team had a strong day of competition at the Joe Handelman Invite on Saturday.

NOTABLE FINISHERS
  • Freshman Nathaniel Adams finished third in the 60m hurdles finals with a time of 9.12 seconds. The freshman recorded a time of 9.05 earlier in the day during the event prelims.
  • In the 600 meters, freshman Nick Johnson crossed the line in fifth with a time of 1:27.76. Fellow freshman Yavier Alvarez was right after him at 1:29.37 for sixth.
  • Senior Raymond Schmitt placed sixth in the 60m dash after sprinting to a time of 6.96.
STANDOUTS IN THE FIELD
  • Senior Zachary Mackiewicz led the way in the weight throw with the fourth-best finish at 16.79m (55-1), while fellow senior Luke Schrank-Garcia took fifth with his toss of16.01m (52-6.5).
  • In the long jump, sophomore Vincent Rizzi recorded the fifth furthest jump of 6.12m (20-1) to lead the Lions.
  • Sophomore Jayden Wright finish sixth in the shot put after recording his best throw of 14.82m (47-7.5) for last, which shot him past teammate George Agyei-Sam's top mark of 14.59m (47-10.5).
  • In pole vault, freshman Tyler DeMarco cleared 4.30m (14-1.25) on his final attempt to finish the attempt in third place.
UP NEXT
The Lions return to action in a month by kicking off the new year at home with the Lions Indoor Invitational on January 12.
