T&F Shows out at Plex Shootout

READING, PA.- The TCNJ track and field team also had athletes putting up strong marks at the Plex Shootout at Alvernia on Saturday.
 
Sophomore Katherine Rice was one of the top performers today for the Lions, hitting a big PR in the mile run. Her time of 5:19.69 beats her previous best by ten seconds and was enough to take second-place for the event.
 
Kerri McCarthy, just one week removed from marking a personal in the shot put did it once again on Saturday, posting a throw of 12.29 meters in the shotput. This personal best mark took second place for the invitational.
 
Victoria Purritano took first-place in 60-meter hurdles with an impressive time of 9.03 seconds. This time is just .09 seconds away from her personal best.
 
Sameerah Khan ran a near best in the 800-meter with a time of 2:26.84. This time got her fourth in the event and is just two seconds off her PR.
 
Jessica Reilly took a second-place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 15.26 meters.
 
On the men's side, freshman Kevin Matthews highlighted the men's team with a third place finish in the mile. He crossed the finish line with a time of 4:28.21.
 
Jahmir Anderson also had a third-place finish of his own in the high jump, clearing the bar of 1.86 meters.
 
Freshman Jeff Heineman took fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:01.00. He trailed the fourth place runner by less than one second.
 
TCNJ track and field will take the next week to fully prepare themselves for the NJAC Championships on Monday, February 20th in Staten Island, N.Y. at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex with the first event starting at 4:00 PM.
